ENTREPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOP @ CHANAKYA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT

To inculcate a sense a entrepreneurship among the students Chanakya Institute of Management, Gharuan, near Chandigarh conducted a workshop for the students of MBA. New age first generation entrepreneurs like Minni Singh MD Akal Springs Ludhiana, Mr Bobby Garg owner Planet Fitness, Ginni Kumar MD Oven Fresh,  were invited to share their views and motivate the students. The students were encouraged to have a practical hands on discussion and brainstorming session on how they can acquire effective entrepreneurial thinking and take effective steps to set up their own businesses.

To give a feel of being an entrepreneur , an entrepreneurial game  was conducted where in students were divided into groups  and given a seed capital  and asked to invest it into a business idea of their choice. And given a time frame of 2 weeks. The students took up ideas like car washing, selling recharge coupons, stationery selling, flower selling etc. The team that made maximum profit from their business idea were given a prize and were allowed to keep their profits as well. The winners were felicitated on this occasion. Ms Minni said that such games should be made essential part of business schools where in students can know the real business environment  in which businesses are conducted and prepare them to face the challenges.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Gaurav Goyal the Co-Chairman of Chanakya Institute who himself happens to be a first generation entrepreneur expressed his views on the growing need of entrepreneurs in India. He opined that rather than looking for companies to hire them students should take calculated risks and opt on being entrepreneurs and be job creators themselves. He added that various government and private agencies are also willing to fund a unique entrepreneurial venture.  The institute also plans to have a permanent entrepreneurship cell to counsel and guide the students interested in being entrepreneurs.
